Accommodation comprises:

  • Comfortable sitting room with wood burning stove, games, books, maps and guides to the area.  CD and DVD player (no TV reception) Free Wifi available 
  • Large well equipped kitchen/dining room with fridge freezer, electric cooker and microwave, dishwasher, cafetiere, table and seating for 6, DAB radio with CD play and iPod docking station
  • Downstairs bathroom with toilet, basin, bath and shower cubicle
  • Utility room with heater, hanging and storage space and washing machine
  • Upstairs 3 bedrooms:
  • Bedroom 1 has double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers
  • Bedroom 2  has two singles, wardrobe with shelves.
  • Bedroom 3 has a bunk bed and chest of drawers.
  • Upstairs toilet and washbasin (the loo with a view!)
  • Upstairs large games and music room with modern quality piano, small snooker/billiard table (good for adults and children) table and chairs.

  • Outside:
  • Well stocked garden with seats to relax and enjoy the views; lawns for play; small pond (little children must be supervised)
  • Bike storage in a locked shed for 4 bikes (additional bikes can go in the games room)
  • Patio with dining table and chairs for six (put away in winter),  barbecue, 2 sunloungers and occasional chairs
  • Public footpath beside the house into the woods and up to Bethecar Moor.

Additional information:

  • The price includes all linen and towels.  Guests are asked to bring their own swimming towels.
  • Up to two  well behaved dogs are welcome with a charge of £15(please note, sheep are often in the adjoining fields so dogs must be kept under control)
  • Logs for a few days burning and kindling are provided.  
  • Heating is by night storage heaters and convector heaters in the bedrooms.  Heating charges are included in the rent.
  • Change over days are Friday and Monday,  vacate by 11am arrive after 4pm
  • Short breaks (3 night weekend, or 4 night weekdays) may be available, please enquire.
  • As this is an old cottage, tall people need to be aware of  low beams in the living room and some low doorways.
  • Cot, fireguard, high chair and stair gate are available (please notify us if these are required)
  • No smoking in the cottage
  • Parking for two cars is in front of the cottage and in parking space up the road.
  • Mobile reception in the cottage works with Vodafone.  O2 and Orange nearby
  • Wifi/internet access

 

 

ACCESS STATEMENT

Arrival

Cars can be parked by the front door.   There is no step up to the door.   The outside light by the front door can be switched on from  just inside the door.  The front door is standard width but lower than normal.

Inside

As this is an old cottage, all doorways are low. 
Beams in the living room can be a hazard for taller people.

Downstairs:  natural wood doors lead off the narrow hallway into the utility room (1st Rt), the bathroom (2ndRt) and the living room on the left.

At the end of the passage there is an original stone staircase with handrails on both sides. Care must be taken as the surface can be slippery. The staircase is well lit.

The living room has a wooden floor with a rug.

The living room has 3 ceiling lights and a table lamp.

From the living room into the kitchen there is a high step with a handrail.

In the kitchen there is a step from the dining area into the kitchen proper.

The kitchen floor is glazed ceramic and can be slippery when wet.

The kitchen has well placed spotlights and a light over the table.

There is just a small stepover from the dining area to the patio.

The bathroom downstairs has a toilet, basin  a standard bath and shower cubicle with  handrail.   There is a main light and a mirror light.

Upstairs:  
Beds are made up using either down/feather or polyester pillows and
duvets.  Customers can make a special request regarding bedding.  

All rooms are well lit with central, bedside and table lights.

Floors in the three bedrooms are carpeted with beige 80% wool carpet.

The games/music room floor is wood with a large rug.

The only step upstairs is into the games/music room.

A door from the games/music room leads into the garden via 6 steps; there is no handrail from this door.  

Outside: The patio is easily accessible from the kitchen.

Three high steps lead up from the patio to the side of the cottage, then there is a slight slope down to the front gate.

A step at the end of the patio leads onto the garden.
